At Sheepdog Security Ministry, we provide services to the Christian Community to assist them in preparing to resist violence in their communities. Whether it be in their churches, their schools or in their daily life, Christian communities need a resource to train them, help them plan for and respond to the violence that is welling up in the world against them. We want all Christians to live without fear; To have the answer to the question swimming around in every Christian's heart; "What would I do?" "Self Defense". The phrase itself may frustrate you. "Christian Self-Defense"... well that is probably just confusing. This is like no other self-defense class you  have ever taken. We don't even like to call it self-defense. Before we tell you what it is, let us tell you what it is NOT.

  • It is NOT martial arts.
  • it is NOT techniques you  have to memorize.
  • It is NOT hours of physical practice.
  • It is NOT a skill you learn over years or even just weeks.
  • It is NOT a Ninja's way of protecting himself
  • It is NOT an admonition to carry a pistol or weapon.
  • it is NOT something you will forget 5 days or 5 years from now.
  • It is NOT... a gimmick. And these are not just fancy words.

You have advantages over your attackers. Learn what they are. As a Christian, you have obligations to protect life. Your own being the most critical. 

Well then what IS it?

Ezekiel 33 "... 6 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.'

Sheepdog Security Ministry (SSM)wants to provide its services to all who need it, regardless of their ability to pay. Those who can pay for our services will. But those who cannot... well we want to make sure they get the training also. 

Nice words. A nice sentiment. But we all know, the world doesn't run on good intentions.

This ministry needs sponsors to provide scholarships to Sheepdog Academy course attendees. Or, described another way, Christian men and women who want to prepare for the possibility that violence will enter their world one day. Or, even violence that may enter yours. (Are you a church? A school? a small business? A large business?)

 

To be honest, when my parents recently and strongly “suggested”/insisted that I take some concentrated private lessons with Mr. Curl before moving to New York City, I was apprehensive. Besides being very short of time, I thought I would likely humiliate myself with ineptitude. Furthermore I wasn’t eager to think about, must less discuss the issues surrounding safety (particularly, female safety) with a family friend. I need not have worried. Mr. Curl, a father of four, two of whom are, like myself, young adult women, is passionate about the protection of his family, and teaching as many as possible how to have the best chance of protection of self and others.

Mr. Lorne Curl provides an excellent, professional, thorough, practical and instructive seminar for women.  

After the first three hour session I discovered that I had developed  confidence in my ability to know how and when to act in cases of real or perceived physical threats.

Having completed the six hour seminar I have a clear understanding of my responsibilities to myself and others in self-protection, and how to engage effectively in self-protective actions whether close to home, or in an unfamiliar location.

Today, this is a necessary (and potentially life-saving) course of instruction for all women engaged in the modern world. (Please read Lorne’s bio to learn about his outstanding qualifications for this work.)

Need help paying for a Sheepdog Academy course?

 

If you wish to attend a Sheepdog Academy course, we encourage you to do so. The costs are minimal compared to the potential payoff. However, if you cannot afford to attend, ask us about our scholarship program. We do not want anyone to be unable to attend these valuable training courses because of financial restrictions. If we have scholarships available, we will consider your request to apply for one. If we have no scholarships available, we will make some sort of arrangement with you. We will work with you on a payment plan, a trade or any other creative idea you may have.
