This is the hardest conversation to have with your staff. What if? What f it is us. What if we are the ones facing a gunman or a violent event of some sort?
Preparation is critical. It is not smart in today's world not to address this elephant in the room.
Your staff wonders, "What would I do?" and feels some fear at the prospect of not knowing. The best way to add some peace and comfort to this growing fear is to train. Give them the answers to know what they should do, what they can do and what they will do.
Sheepdog Security Ministry has qualified trainers that will train your staff in a Christian mindset for how to confront violence and protect themselves as well as others.
Common examples of staff training;
- Office staff, Ushers, Ministry staff
- Dealing with aggravated church members
- Situational Awareness
- Threat Assessment (Is this man really violent or am I just scared?)
- Defusing angry conversations
- Self defense
- Active Shooter preparedness
- Weapons training for those that allow Concealed Carry in their offices. (Many do, they just do it quietly. We will be quiet about it as well.)
- Ushers, security Team Members
- All of the above plus;
- Tactical preparedness
- Preparing for ingress and egress of violent intruders
- Dealing with protesters
- Knowing how to recognize a threat
- Working together as a team with the Pastor in the pulpit to deal with a threat during services
- Protecting the Pastor
- Church Leadership
- Pastoral awareness. What is happening during the services?
- Where are your ushers/ Where might a threat come from?
- What do you do if a shooter enters your church.
- How do you communicate to the church members in the middle of an emergency?
Regardless of the presence of an organized Church Ministry, taking the time to train your staff annually in all these matters or just a few, large megaChurch or tiny neighborhood chapel, you need to prepare.
Let us help. You don't have the time to seek all this out. let us handle it.
