About Our Founder, Lorne W. Curl

Mr. Curl is a practicing Catholic, a man of faith who attempts to use the gifts God has given him for the benefit of others. He is a natural trainer and a gifted speaker.

Mr. Curl has been happily married for 30 years and is a father of 4 children, two girls and two boys.

Sheepdog Security Ministry is an expression of his concern for those who are “Unprepared” for the rising tide of violence in the world around them and is a response to what he sees as a rising trend toward physical violence against the Christian community, specifically and the world as a whole. It is his belief that more people need to be prepared to step up and defend themselves and others against the evils in this world. Especially the young adults, who are 85% likely to experience a violent event in their lifetime.

He believes his extensive experience and preparation in resisting and combating evil in daily life, as a Marine, as a Police Officer, as a husband and as a father should be shared with others in an effort to ensure that good men and women are not left with only the option to “Do nothing” in the face of evil.

U. S. Marine Corps

Lorne Curl is a decorated combat veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served for almost ten years as a Military Police Officer and served in three combat campaigns. He is a veteran of the first Gulf War and participated in the campaign for the liberation and defense of the nation of Kuwait. Mr. Curl was awarded, along with his brother Marines, the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal. The medal was offered by the Chief of Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces and endorsed by the King of Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Curl’s achievements in weapons training, physical combat and combat tactics began in boot camp, where he achieved the title of Water Safety Survival Instructor before he was even able to claim the title of “Marine”. In Weapons training, Mr. Curl earned the record for the highest score ever obtained by any Marine with the M16-A2 Service Rifle. To put this into perspective, Mr. Curl hit 49 of 50 perfect bullseyes on a target section no larger than your cell phone from a distance of 200, 300 and 500 yards, during both slow and rapid fire.

Police

It was during his career as a Military Police Officer that Mr. Curl began to acquire the training and experience that he offers today as Founder of Sheepdog Security Ministry. It is important to note that the Military Police are the force that must police the most elite fighting force in the world. Every person the Marine Military Police Officer comes into contact with is highly trained in weapons use, physical combat and experienced in physical violence in general. Policing these men is a daunting task.

Mr. Curl graduated from the Police Academy as “Distinguished Honor Graduate”, meaning that he not only graduated first in his class, he was also the top scoring shooter on the pistol range. Mr. Curl held the record for the highest score ever achieved on the range with the M1911 Colt .45 caliber pistol.

As a result of his achievements in boot camp, advanced combat training and the Police Academy, Mr. Curl was offered the opportunity to join HMX-1, the United States Marine Corps helicopter squadron responsible for the transportation of the President of the United States. An opportunity he declined in order to continue his career path as a Police Officer.

Extensive Training and Experience

Over his career, Mr. Curl has trained in and applied principles of counter-terrorism, VIP Security and protection, Physical Security and counter-measures, Marine Corps martial arts, physical containment techniques, threat assessment, situational awareness, weapons safety, marksmanship, loss prevention, threat detection and deterrence and more. He served on security details for VIP’s such as General Norman Schwarzkopf, President George H. Bush Sr. and others.

Civilian Life

After his military career, Mr. Curl became an expert in IT and technology application. He spent ten years as a business management and technology consultant using his Marine Corps leadership training. Mr. Curl eventually moved into Digital Forensics as an executive and managed technology firms to locate and produce digital evidence for the court systems.

Non-Profit Involvement

Mr. Curl co-founded the “Magnificence in Life and Leadership Institute”, an organization dedicated to bringing your Sunday faith into your Monday work life. He believes that your faith is a daily way of being and thinking, not just a Sunday diversion. The MILL Institute encouraged business leaders to adopt a Christ-like method of leadership that recognizes and draws out the greatness in each team member, as Christ does, without leaving Christian principles behind.

Mr. Curl has been an Invited Guest Lecturer for Digital Forensics and e-Discovery at the University of Dallas, Graduate School of Management, is a certified executive coach, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Knights of Columbus and the International Coaches Federation, for executive coaching and business mentorship.

Current

Mr. Curl currently works with Artificial Intelligence in the Energy Management world and travels extensively.

He is currently attempting to form this organization to combat the lack of real life preparation to deal with real violence. The Western Culture we live in has stopped training young men and women to stand and fight in the face of evil and instead proposes a “Sit and wait” mentality for someone to come and assist. In today’s world, violence against Christians in particular is on the rise. To avoid becoming a victim, Christian’s must prepare for the reality of it in everyday life.
