Psalm 94:16 "Who rises up for me against the wicked? Who stands up for me against evildoers?"
At Sheepdog Security Ministry, we provide services to the Christian Community to assist them in preparing to resist violence in their communities. Whether it be in their churches, their schools or in their daily life, Christian communities need a resource to train them, help them plan for and respond to the violence that is welling up in the world against them. We want all Christians to live without fear; To have the answer to the question swimming around in every Christian's heart; "What would I do?" If you want to prepare your school, your church or your family to prevent, detect and respond to violence, we can help.

Course Goal: Threat Assessment and Associated Defensive Responses for Women

To educate Christian women about the real risks of being a woman in a secular world that treats women as objects and to prepare them to prevent and physically confront these risks using the natural gifts and advantages that God provided them to protect themselves and others. This course will teach a woman how to think through her advantages and options in various threat scenarios.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; ..."

SSM Testimonials from our Defense Courses for Women

    • “This was a really great class to come to and experience! It probably has been the best Christmas gift ever! A lot of the material really did confirm and answer a lot of questions I had. It was so awesome to figure out how to use some or all of our womanly advantages in situations! I definitely feel more prepared if a situation ever comes up.”

    • Mr. Lorne Curl provides an excellent, professional, thorough, practical and instructive seminar for women. After the first three hour session I discovered that I had developed confidence in my ability to know how and when to act in cases of real or perceived physical threats. Having completed the six hour seminar I have a clear understanding of my responsibilities to myself and others in self-protection, and how to engage effectively in self-protective actions whether close to home, or in an unfamiliar location. Today, this is a necessary (and potentially life-saving) course of instruction for all women engaged in the modern world. (Please read Lorne’s bio to learn about his outstanding qualifications for this work.)

    • “Be who you are called to be, and you will set the world on fire” This is, of course, the famous quote of St. Catherine of Sienna. These are words that every Christian parent longs for their children to wholeheartedly implement in their lives. But sometimes, in our desire for the safety of those we love, we “hamstring” them, by curtailing the opportunities to effect change, because we see the all-to-real dangers. Changing the world isn’t supposed to be safe - this is a battleground after all. However, after working with Lorne Curl, I know it doesn’t have to be (and shouldn’t be) unnecessarily dangerous either. Approaching instruction in personal security and self-defense within the perfect framework of the Catholic Church’s teachings regarding the dignity of every human being and our call to be soldiers for Christ, Mr. Curl gives practical, effective and yes, fun instruction. (I’m not kidding, it is seriously fun to work on personal safety with Mr. Curl).

    • To be honest, when my parents recently and strongly “suggested”/insisted that I take some concentrated private lessons with Mr. Curl before moving to New York City, I was apprehensive. Besides being very short of time, I thought I would likely humiliate myself with ineptitude. Furthermore I wasn’t eager to think about, must less discuss the issues surrounding safety (particularly, female safety) with a family friend. I need not have worried. Mr. Curl, a father of four, two of whom are, like myself, young adult women, is passionate about the protection of his family, and teaching as many as possible how to have the best chance of protection of self and others. Not only did I feel entirely comfortable learning with Mr. Curl and discussing those issues but I really did have fun. If you have the opportunity to train with Mr. Curl, jump at it. I hope that someday Mr. Curl will be able to teach his courses throughout the country so many more men and women will have the practical tools to promote the safety and dignity of themselves and those around them, and thus not have to succumb to fear, which frees us to better be able to
